Take a cruise around Antarctica with our Classic Antarctica itinerary for an once-in-a-lifetime experience.
This cruise will take you through the tempestuous waters of the Antarctic, exploring the surrounding islands (South Shetland Islands and nearby islands such as Petermann, Livingstone and Deception) on your way to the pristine Antarctic Peninsula.
Each day you shall have two excursions giving you the opportunity to discover key places that make up this wonderful and remote part of the world. Whilst on your journey, marvel at the ice caps and the cold adapted wildlife that can be found on Antarctica, including: penguins, fur seals, mosses, lichen and many types of algae.
“The Classic itinerary offers a fantastic introduction to the White Continent – prepare to be blown away by the awesome scenery and wildlife!”
We would recommend the Best of Patagonia itinerary for a cruise in Argentina. This trip is an incredible combination of viewing stunning landscapes including Torres del Paine National Park, the Perito Moreno Glacier, and going to the remote south of South America: Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel which you will discover by boat. A fascinating itinerary that will take you to some of the world’s most unique and impressive places!
To summarise the part on a cruise: you will explore bays, fjords, past islands, forests, mountains, glaciers, penguins, sea lions and much much more…just incredible! Every day you will disembark and venture forth by large inflatable dinghies (locally known as zodiacs) on various excursions to learn about the environment with your experienced guides. There are also optional lectures on board all about the flora and fauna of the area.
“Patagonia is all about adventure and getting off the tourist trail. Anyone who loves the outdoors will find this trip through deepest Patagonia right up their street.”
Galapagos cruises vary in length from 3 to 14 nights so should you want to spend more time exploring this wildlife paradise then please advise you travel consultant. Boat sizes also vary from large (90 passengers offering more stability) to small (16 passengers offering a more intimate experience) so you can pick the option that is best for you.
Our recommended cruise itinerary combines a trip of a lifetime to the enchanting Galapagos Islands with plenty of relaxation, culture and romance thrown in. Starting off in Quito, the colonial capital, you head to a charming hacienda in the scenic highlands and then round things off with a cruise in the remote wildlife rich islands of the Galapagos, where you’re likely to share a beach with a local sealion or two. After the cruise unwind at luxury beach hotel.
The cruise will show you the very best of these magical islands. The boat mainly travels at night, so that you wake up in the morning at a new island ready for you to explore and meet the unique wildlife which lives there. Mornings are spent either walking on a clearly marked trail with your English-speaking guide or snorkelling in the clear waters.
Usually there is time to do both. Then after lunch and a welcome siesta you will have the chance to do the same activities, but on a different island and in different waters. Some of the many highlights that you may see are: Blue footed boobies, flightless Cormorants, Giant Tortoises, penguins, harmless reef sharks, pink flamingos, curious sealions, marine and land iguanas. If there are particular animals or birds that you hope to see, ask your consultant because the fauna varies from island to island.
“A Galapagos cruise is the best way to see the island’s diverse and unique wildlife. Combine this with Otavalo, Latin America’s premier market town, and you are on to a winner!”
